Our Scholars

As college classes resume in the Fall of 2014, New Haven Promise will be supporting more than 500 city students across the State of Connecticut in both private and public colleges and universities.

Those students had to meet an array of requirements — including grades, attendance, service, residency and enrollment — at one of the New Haven public high school schools. Once in college, New Haven Promise helps support students in ways more than just financially. Adopting the phrase “to, through and back,” the goal is to see New Haven grow with the return of these scholars.

Nearly 90 percent of the Scholars are minority students and the majority come from low-income backgrounds. Almost all attend college immediately after high school, taking full advantage of the opportunity they’ve earned.

New Haven Promise support makes an enormous difference in their ability to attend college or to enroll at the university of their choice.
