The Elm City — among the largest cities in the Northeast — is also the cultural capital of New England with a supply of Zagat-rated restaurants, museums, theaters, universities and entertainment venues.

New Haven is best known as the home of Yale University, which serves an integral role as the City’s largest employer (and primary funder of New Haven Promise). Adding to the economic base of the City are the fields of health care, professional services, financial services and retail trade.

Located along the Long Island Sound between New York City and Boston, New Haven is one of the few metropolitan areas in the Northeast to experience population growth in recent decades. There is a high density of residents downtown (or within walking range), making it a vibrant place not only during workdays, but also at night and on weekends.
